Proudly Pokies Free is proud to announce their campaign launch event to be held on Sunday October 23rd at one of Sydney's favourite live music venues, OXFORD ART FACTORY

The pokies are designed to be addictive, they destroy lives, and they are EVERYWHERE. Proudly Pokies Free aims to celebrate and promote pokies-free venues in Sydney and work towards a more healthy and vibrant social community.

The launch event is an opportunity to promote live music as a positive pillar of Sydney nightlife and will feature performances from a diverse range of Sydney acts in support of the campaign. Included in the bill is an intimate set from Tim Freedman, front man of The Whitlams. In 1999, The Whitlams released the hit single "Blow Up The Pokies", a moving track about Freedman's close friend and bandmate who struggled with a pokies addiction and ultimately took his own life.

The night will also feature performances from eclectic Sydney DJ, Joyride, rock trio World Champion, surf psych newcomers Wild Honey, electronic duo Left., and Bad Deep DJs. Very special secret guests will also be announced on the night, as well as short speeches from guest speakers. Scott Marsh, the graffiti artist behind the "Casino Mike" mural, will also be doing apokies inspired mural to kick off the festivities

With NSW alone hosting 50% of Australia's 200,000 pokies machines, it is only fitting that the campaign is to launch here in Sydney, with a future aim of spreading throughout the state and the rest of Australia.

Proudly Pokies Free campaign launch will be held at Oxford Art Factory, Sydney, on Sunday 23rd October from 5pm.
