8 x Mondays, 10 October - 28 November 2016
Tutor: Susan Baran
Intimate class size: maximum 8 students
Whether or not you see yourself as artistic, anyone can learn how to print. Printmaking offers unique characteristics including a language of marks and richness of colour that can't be achieved in other mediums.
Throughout this 8-week course, professional printmaker Susan Baran will teach you a range of foundation skills exploring a variety of printmaking techniques including linocut, drypoint, etching, collagraph, and monotype. Beginners will undergo a thorough introduction to each printmaking method while returning students will continue to advance their learning through development and experimentation.
You will take home everything you produce - proofs, print editions and the blocks or plates you create your prints from. You'll also be provided with many tips for a well-rounded approach to developing your studio practice at home.
Full instruction is provided on materials, products, tools, equipment and studio procedures. Non-toxic processes will be offered wherever possible.
Level: designed for complete beginners and continuing students
Wear: comfortable clothing (aprons provided)
Bring: yourself - all materials provided
Next level class: It is recommended students complete at least two beginner classes before considering more intermediate to advanced levels. Please discuss with your tutor.
