Develop an edition of prints in this 8-week Wednesday evening course for intermediate to advanced students.
Printmaking: Creating a Body of Work
8 x Wednesdays, 12 October - 30 November
Tutor: Rebecca Baird
Intimate class size: Maximum 8 students
Printmaking requires two hats: those of the artist and the technician. The artist creates the image, prepares the plate or block and chooses colours while the technician mixes the inks, lines up the plate or block and gauges how much pressure should be applied.
Throughout this 8-week course, printmaker Rebecca Baird will help you develop your skills in the precise art of printmaking by creating an edition of prints. You'll produce professional quality prints in the technique of your choice, whether that be mono printing, hand printing, relief block printing, dry point, etching, collagraph or photo-polymer printmaking.
Come equipped with your ideas and imagery or be inspired by your tutor.
Specific techniques will be introduced to the group that will combine traditional and contemporary materials and tools.
You'll take home everything you produce - proofs, print editions and the blocks or plates you've made your prints from.
Full instruction is provided on materials, products, tools, equipment and studio procedures. Non-toxic processes will be offered wherever possible.
Location: Pine Street Print Studio
Level: Designed for students with previous experience in printmaking and knowledge of relief and intaglio prints.
Wear: comfortable clothing (aprons provided)
Bring: yourself - all materials provided
Next level class: Advanced or masterclass
