Fresh off a signing with Jack White’s label Third Man Records, Pokey and his band bring a focus and energy to the American Roots genre with infectious original material that sits at the crossroads of early jazz, country blues and western swing. With his effortless charisma and distinctive charm, Pokey has crafted a genre all his own – and one that extends well beyond the music alone.

Since the album's release in June, 'Pokey LaFarge' has received much critical praise on both the national and international stage. Luke Torn of UK's Uncut Magazine says, "Midwesterner Pokey LaFarge infuses would-be moribund styles with rare vigour... highlights like 'Bowlegged Woman' and the magnetic opener 'Central Time' crackle with the dynamism of long-dormant forces reawakened," while Pokey's song-writing prowess received accolades from American Songwriter's Davis Inman, who says, "What resonates about LaFarge's songs are there immediacy and timelessness".

Pokey has quickly made his way into major film and television productions; he joined Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks for a track featured on an episode and subsequent soundtrack (Vol. 2) of HBO's 'Boardwalk Empire', appeared in Disney's 'The Lone Ranger'and performed on 'The Late Show'with David Letterman this July. 

Pokey LaFarge is on a mission, encouraging audiences worldwide to think differently about what it means to celebrate musical traditions. Simply put, Pokey explains, "It's not retro music. It's American music that never died".

Now he brings his Mid-western appeal and infallible charisma to Australia for the first time this March.
