Ladies and Gentleman, LLLLLLLLLets get ready to Rumble!!! In the red corner, legendary emcee, producer and multi-instrumentalist Captain Imon Starr drives his latest project Olmecha Supreme to the extremes of musical greatness. Undisputedly the freshest and most fiercely talented live band you have yet to hear, Olmecha Supreme will be hitting Australian shores from their current home in Wellington New Zealand to battle Australias newest local heavyweight, Pataphysics! $16.50+BF $20 door ALL PATRONS ARE REQUIRED TO PRODUCE CURRENT VALID PHOTO ID ON ENTRY!!!

Olmechas all-star line-up is no joke. This five piece supergroup features the vocal percussion of Aotearoa's Beatbox Champ; King Homeboy, the red hot flavour of Cuban Reggaeton artist Jinetero Emcee, talented percussionist Kikanju Baku on drums and the sublime skills of bass-guitarist Crete Haami. Each member of Olmecha is a heavyweight in his own right, led by NZ MPC Champion, founding member of Wellington group Rhombus, and the son of legendary blues musician Taj Mahal among other things, Imon Starr.

Starr describes the sound as 'afro futuristic roots music' a definition that defies genre classification, encompassing the past, present and future of all genres born of Africa, bringing traditional rhythms and knowledge to the digital realm. Olmecha Supreme live delivers a dramatic and high-energy performance of mesmerizing, live afro-futuristic roots music, transforming even the shyest of peoples into dancing machines. Fusing the traditional Afro-rhythms of roots, rock, reggae, hip-hop, soul, funk and afro-beat, Olmecha takes the audience to a place of pure soul-filled enjoyment.

In the yellow corner, armed with his hand picked 5 piece funk posse, and as always his signature weapon, the jazz trumpet, Pataphysics powerful performances deliver an unique first generation Australian perspective on its contemporary culture. Con-currently writing a thesis on Indigenous resistance in Australia, the uplifting blend of beats and rhymes in 2 languages give off an intriguingly laid-back vibration in complete contrast to the more serious nature of some of the topics considered. With his ever-changing live shows carrying a deep groove element and extensive improvisation, Pataphysics is moving crowds with the unique vibe created & riddims served having more depth than audiences have come to expect.

When Jammin with his crew/funk posse, the live warm organic textures mixed with the dirty drums and electronic sub frequencies take it to the next level. In the build up to the release of his highly anticipated debut album The_OLogy_unKnowN, singles released so far have painted a picture of musical and intellectual diversity, highlighting some of the finer talents of the community that is building throughout Melbournes ungerground current. Working with a group of inspirational artists from around the world on this album including Stic Man (Dead Prez, USA), NFA (1200 Techniques), Raashan Ahmad (USA), Vida-Sunshyne (Mista Savona), Lotek (UK), and Rob Swift (X-ecutioners) among others, Pataphysics is further known for the quality of the company of musicians he keeps, a reputation these friendly battles with Olmecha Supreme are sure to build on.

In the green corner, strapping on their gloves for a round will be some very special guests  including Brisbanes powerful neo-soul hip hop crew Laneous and the family Yah, New Zealands best known Bondi Beach residents Budspells, and notorious party starter DJ JC to name just a few.

Lets get it on!
