Normie Rowe & The Playboys
Make no mistake Normie Rowe & The Playboys were by no small measure the most successful Pop act in 60s Australia. Finding their way from the Town Hall dances of the Northern suburbs of Melbourne to Channel O's "GO!! Show" they proceeded to produce a string of hit singles that remain on the soundtrack of a generation - "It Ain't Necessarily So", "I Who Have Nothing", "Que Sera Sera" and "Shakin' All Over" are the most obvious. There a half a dozen others that will leap to mind instantly as you hear the song intros.
Normie Rowe & The Original Playboys shows are rare and memorable shared experiences for all concerned; Normie, The Playboys and the audiences. Billy Billings (guitar), Peter Carrol (bass) and Graeme Trottman - "Trotta" (drums) were there in the beginning. Sadly, keyboardist Phil Blackmore passed away in the 70's. Steve Kelson is the new boy - only 25 years. You'll hear the original sounds through the original equipment. You'll feel as good as you did then - just a bit different - and it will be difficult to stop the memories flowing and to get the smile off your face! As Stan Rofe might say - "We had so much fun then, we're doing it again!"
