No Dice Paradise brings you another lineup of the best up and coming electro-alternative acts.

BRENDAN MACLEAN
Pop fireworks. Folk lyricism. Indie rock. At home on the piano. On holidays with a ukulele.

Having released his debut record White Canvas in 2010, Maclean is picking up some groundswell performing alongside Claire Bowditch, Lanie Lane, Kate-Miller Heidke and even Savage Garden. He's also in Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby, so there's that too.

JACK COLWELL
A classically-trained composer turned alternative pop-star, Jack Colwell is due to release his debut album. He and his band the Owls honed their act on Australia's stages before retiring to the studio to produce Picture Window.

Originally conceived as an EP, Colwell's ideas soon grew beyond the confines of a short-form release. Colwell's backing band, the Owls, are an ever-rotating line-up of friends and like-minded artists, currently consisting of multi-instrumentalists Miles Horler, Hayden Woolf & Genevieve Fricker.

Colwell may be classically trained (at Sydney's prestigious Conservatorium of Music, mind you), but his love of a great pop melody always wins out: look no further than the sing-and-whistle-and-slap-along first single, Hopechest. Colwell describes Picture Window as "chamber pop", but the album explores a great many sounds: the dark folk of From The Ground, the grungy dirge of Banquet, and the epic The Labyrinth.

EMBASSY
in narrow ways his life has begun/his soul perished in the green/in a world which credits what is done/is cold to all that might have been

FROYO

A Sydney-based synthpop trio with a taste for the 80s - taking outdated sounds and making them new. Starting out as a one-man-job and produced out of a dude's bedroom, FROYO eventually came together as a unit late in 2013 and has been serving up spoonfuls of sweet synthy pop pie ever since.

OKIN OSAN
Okin Osan is Sydney-sider Rose Chan. Her songs are about teenage exploits and dreams. Her sound is brought to you by 50's rock 'n' roll and 80's American punk. The live set up includes Rose on vocals and guitar with friends on bass and drums.

Inspired by Buddy Holly, Blondie, The Strokes and video game music, Rose began writing songs, but shyness prevented her from performing them publicly. From 2009, she has worked as a session musician. With her sister, Rainbow Chan, she has supported Husky, The Falls, Sui Zhen, Jack Carty and Set Sail.
