The Rhythm Hut is very proud to host Nicky Bomba as part of the Gumball Festival after party! (www.thegumball.com.au)

Nicky will be teaching a ukulele workshop followed by a live performance. Special guests Rhythm Hunters will be opening the performance on the night.

With a passion for culture and people, Nicky Bomba has travelled extensively, immersing himself in the music and culture of places such as Ethiopia, Morocco, Jamaica, Europe and his birthplace Malta. Consequently, the music produced by this peace-lovin' troubadour is a melting pot of fun, adventure and exotic sounds of the people and places he loves.

The live performance still holds sacred for Nicky who is eternally committed to creating a sense of community and unity whenever he plays. It is not uncommon for Nicky to go off on some magical tangent in order to really connect with an audience. Flying by the seat of his pants is something Nicky welcomes.

Nicky has built a solid reputation in the music industry via many projects including conducting the 30pce Melbourne Ska Orchestra to playing drums with The John Butler Trio, to being the Artistic Producer for the Multicultural Arts Victoria "Visible" project. Over the years he has formed and played with bands purely for the love of the music and the adventures they create.

Opening for Nicky Bomba on the night will be the Central Coast's own Rhythm Hunters in their first home performance for the year. Rhythm Hunters blend sounds from Indonesia, Japan, Africa and modern day Australia to provide cutting edge physical percussion, didgeridoo, Western horns, Asian flute, deep grooves and ethereal soundscapes that mesmerize and captivate.

Credentials include main-stage performances at Woodford Folk Festival, National Folk Festival, Peat's Ridge, The Dreaming, National Multicultural Festival, Cygnet Folk Festival, Island Vibe, and Mullumbimby Music Festival.

Rhythm Hunters has, power, pizzaz, funk, innovation and hard old school discipline which is being delicately channeled into their irresistible sound and Sweet Indo-Pacific Grooves.

Time: Ukulele workshop 4.30-6.00pm, Concert 6.30pm
