7:30pm, Fri 5 October, 2018
Bridge Hotel, NSW
Moving Pictures formed in 1979. Within a year they had made their reputation as one of the best live acts in Sydney. They were all superb musicians, and in Alex Smith, they had an exceptional vocalist and world class front man. In 1981 they recorded their debut album, 'Days of Innocence', which included the smash hit 'What About Me', both of which went to the top on the charts.
Fast forward to 2018
After reforming seven years ago the band have been touring every year and getting rave reviews for their shows. Coming off the back of a sold out 2018 Red Hot Summer Tour Moving Pictures were asked, "What were the most important musical and creative influences in your lives?" EVERY single member of the band said, "The Beatles... and the songs of Lennon and McCartney". It was an easy decision then for the band to honour these timeless classics with a special two hour concert celebration of what is the most important group in the history of music, and one of the biggest influences on all their lives.
Moving Pictures guitar player, Garry Frost AOM, remembers, "For my 8th birthday, I went to see 'A Hard Day's Night' at Hornsby Cinema with my best mate, E (Ian Lees, Moving Pictures bass player). That movie was a massive game changer. The Beatles were unbelievable. We'd heard their records, but now we got to see them on the big screen! From that moment on, all we wanted to do was make great music, and have lots of fun. And we're still doing that 50 years later! We can't wait to play this show!"
Moving Pictures, with the amazing Alex Smith on vocals, will be bringing their own unique take on the sensational songs of Lennon and McCartney, as well as their own classic hits, to some very special venues in October, 2018.
