Duke of George presents

Michael Pignéguy Quartet with special guests
Solomon Pitt & Sophie Foster
https://fb.watch/eMg5R6s1uT/

A powerhouse of vocal and instrumental talent has been assembled by bandleader Micheal Pignéguy for this exciting August 20 show.  Two of Western Australia’s most soulful singers, Sophie Foster and Solomon Pitt, are joined by Michael and his quartet which features Brodie Stewart (keys), Lachie Glover (trumpet) and Pete Jeavons (bass).

Both Sophie and Solomon have collaborated with Michael individually but this will be the first opportunity to see them share the stage. This performance will see them showcase  selected new works they have written together as well as presenting interpretations of music from artists such as Eva Cassidy, Etta James, Ray Charles and Bill Withers.

Instrumentally, there is certainly a lot on offer with the tremendous talents of Brodie, Lachie, Pete and Michael himself of the bandstand. With a considerable amount of style and substantial serving of substance, this show will definitely be one to catch. Expect to be blown away by this outstanding line-up!

Drummer and composer, Micheal Pignéguy, formed his sextet (MPS) in the mid 90s as a vehicle for original compositions and arrangements by himself and the other founding band members. The group went on to record its debut album live at the iconic jazz club Greenwich and followed up with a 2nd double album a couple years later which featured, and was co-produced by Australian sax doyen and US Jazz Messengers album, Dale Barlow. MPS went on to perform around Australia as well as in the US and other countries. In quartet mode the group also recorded Au Privave featuring Mat Jodrell as well as American rhythm section icons Chris Pattishal (pno) and Philip Keuhn (bs.).
