Music Against Wildlife Extinction

MORE INFO

Canadian folk-pop singer-songwriter Martha Wainwright is making her Melbourne Zoo Twilights debut to kick off the closing weekend of the 2017 series, with support from New York's Margaret Glaspy.

With an undeniable voice and an arsenal of powerful songs, Martha Wainwright is a beguiling performer and a refreshingly different force in music. Throughout her career spanning two decades, she has shown great musical maturity and talent as a songwriter, performing sold out shows across several continents, and stunning audiences with her incredible range and ability. Martha Wainwright will bring her timeless hits from the past 20 years to the Twilights s2tage, along with material from her upcoming fourth studio album. Goodnight City (November 2016) is poised to be her best record yet, returning to the rawness of her critically and commercially successful debut LP.

Singer-songwriter Margaret Glaspy blends thoughtful song writing with simple melodies and a grungy rock edge, enamouring listeners with her intimate yet commanding sound. Her debut album Emotions and Math (2016) was released in June to universal praise, and likened by Pitchfork to "the self-scrutinizing intimacy of Elliott Smith and the imaginative melodic intonations of Joni Mitchell."

Martha Wainwright will play Zoo Twilights in support of Zoos Victoria and their fight to save the Eastern Barred Bandicoot from extinction.
