Make Nice: An Un-Conference for Creative Women
International Presenters. Homegrown Perspectives. All Female Voices. Make Nice differentiates itself from other creative events by offering an intimate environment and un-conference format limited to 150 females. The three day event will provide practical advice for working in the creative industries, promote the importance of a thriving and supportive professional ecology and foster ongoing dialogue for the continued exchange of ideas. Make Nice is an event for creative women, to learn from creative women with an exclusive lineup of international and homegrown talent including Leslie David (FRA), Adi Goodrich (USA), Elizabeth Weinberg (USA), Suzy Tuxen (AUS), Jess Scully (AUS), Brodie Lancaster (AUS), Niccola Phillips (AUS), and Elize Strydom (AUS). Make Nice is as much about sharing knowledge between pioneering creative women during round-table discussions, as it is about forming genuine relationships with other attendees during programmed social events.
Make Nice will offer a relaxed environment for (but not limited to) graphic, interior, and fashion designers, curators, artists, freelancers, producers, photographers, artistic directors, writers, stylists, and illustrators. Make Nice is about conversation - so whilst we have a stellar line up of experts in the field, we want our attendees to be women who want to learn and can share their own stories too.
Our international speakers will be making their Australian keynote debut at Make Nice. Our home grown talent are also exclusive presenters - hand selected for their unique Australian perspective. Our speakers are not going to give you a portfolio talk - you will get the untold story, the turning points and the advice that they wish they'd been told sooner. Our presenters are also here to learn, and will be sitting alongside our attendees discussing the issues that make our industry tick.
Make Nice firmly believes that a rising tide lifts all boats - in this way, we are gathering women to critically discuss the creative industries, whilst offering an environment to strengthen our female support network.
Included in the ticket price will be opening night drinks, two full days of keynote presentations, panel discussions and round-table conversations, and a dinner and dance party for all attendees and speakers. It also includes breakfast both mornings from Love Soup, opening eats and dinner by Flour and Stone, wine by Cake Wines, beer by Two Birds Brewing, the finest coffee and tea (and non-alcoholic cocktails) by Sensory Lab and T Totaler, and a killer welcome bag.
Additionally, each attendee will be invited to a private online forum along with our speakers and sponsors that will be active year round. This is a space for ongoing dialogue, connecting people to opportunities and staying in touch with the founding group of attendees for Make Nice 2016. This group will grow with subsequent Make Nice events, creating an international alumni on an accessible platform that promotes collaboration and community.
