Buzzy New Zealand band LEISURE announce their debut Australian show presented by FBi at GoodGod Sydney on 14th October ahead of a string of international dates.
When the Auckland five-piece - friends who have all done their time in the music industry as artists, writers and producers - posted their track 'Got It Bad' online with no expectation or fuss earlier this year, the reaction was immediate and widespread. The band quickly released another track online, the similarly narcotic 'Hot Love', that only served to pique further interest. People all over the world were hearing the songs, loving them, trying to find out more information on the authors, and finding precious little.
And for good reason: 'Got It Bad' is an unusual song, a minimalist groove with a woozy, soporific rhythm and the most laidback vocal. It comfortably defies easy categorisation. It's post-dub, post-rave. You could call it chill-out, a comedown anthem. It sounds perfect after midnight, or as the soundtrack to a siesta - specifically because you listen to it convinced it was recorded in a hammock, on a beach, just as their name suggests.
