Late Scratching: A horse that is scratched from a race after acceptances have been declared. Any trainer who scratches a horse after acceptance time without an acceptable reason may be penalised by the Stewards.

 Late Night Scratching: A punter (or horse) that has scratched themselves from race day in order to make full use of the public holiday. All punters scratched before race day will be rewarded by the Toff with a tasteful selection of Live Bands and Disco Jockey's on Melbourne Cup Eve.

Bolting out the race gates from 7:30pm, with live music from 8pm, the night will be kicked off by the following bands:
