North Queensland's King Social will take its forthcoming album, In Colour, on the band's biggest tour yet, confirming 14 shows across the East Coast and Top End today, with more to be announced soon.

The genre-bending band - which has won fans for its high energy live gigs, three Triple J Unearthed chart toppers and a successful stint on Australia's Got Talent in 2016 - will kick off its tour in Central Queensland on 5 August, before heading for Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Darwin, with plenty of regional stops along the way.

King Social's front man Angus Milne said the band was excited to hit the road and the stage again after almost 12 months' break.

"We made a conscious decision to take time off from performing so that we could knuckle down and write the very best new music we could," said Milne.

"It was the best decision we could have made, and we hope people will agree that the results speak for themselves, but we're really just keen to play live again now. Even when we were in the recording studio working on the album, the boys would all be talking about how good it would be to get these songs in front of a crowd and feel the energy. We're a live band; and performing live is what we love doing more than anything else."

Hip-hop artist Stevie Mitchell said fans could expect a blend of old favourites and new tracks from the tour.

"We're incredibly excited about the new stuff and stoked with the reaction we've had to the first single, Simmer Down," said Mitchell.

"There are some real rippers on the album that we know the punters will love to dance to and we can't wait to party with everyone. For me, that's the best part about being in King Social - hip-hop crowds can be a tough bunch to get dancing, but not ours. To see someone bopping along to something we've made, is the best reward we could ever ask for."
