Adelaide boys Andrew Higgs and Danny Leo which make up the powerhouse, hard rockin’ duo King Of The North are hitting the road from July to September. They will be launching their debut self-titled E.P on a national tour that takes in most of the country and kicks off in Adelaide!
After spending the first 6 months of 2012 playing solidly around Melbourne, KOTN have become one of the most talked about and sought after bands in town. KOTN were invited to play with Cold Chisel at Festival Hall, Fu Manchu and Black Cobra at Cherry Rock in AC/DC lane, plus a bunch of local festivals, residencies and other great support shows. Their massive and unique sound coupled with one of the most entertaining live shows around has made them a mainstay in the Melbourne music scene already.
About beginning the tour in Adelaide: "We've been playing so much in Melbourne, we wanted Adelaide to be the first city we go to! Adelaide's our home and to be playing with such a killer line up at a killer venue, we really can't wait to blow the shit out of the place! It's gonna be special. It's been too long!" - Andrew Higgs
Now armed with their first release, King Of The North are taking on the country. The E.P was recorded in Nth Melbourne by award winning producer and engineer David Briggs, also lead guitarist for the Little River Band in the 70's. The self-titled release features 5 tracks of new and old material played over the last year of KOTN' live shows. Until now this band has only had a 2 track demo available from their website which has had over 1000 downloads.
Locals 'Tabula Rasa', 'Your Motive For', 'DJ Trombot' as well as Melbourne rockers 'Bitter Sweet Kicks' who are on their way to Europe will join KOTN at Jive. This will be a huge night of local original rock n roll!
"If you aren't familiar with King of the north, it wont be too long before you are. It seems unfathomable that these guys don't have a record yet. When one does see the light of day it's going to shake the foundations of Melbourne rock and beyond ." Veri.Live Magazine, Feb 2012
