After chalking up appearances at Meredith, the Big Day Out, mental hospitals and turning front rows of venues around the country into chasms of sweat and spilt lager, King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard are back with their much anticipated debut record, 12 Bar Bruise.

It's filled with energetic slabs of psych-garage, ocker wit and the type of scuzzed out hysteria that picks you up and hurls you down bluntly without permission. This is no exercise in calculated drone. Clocking in a speck under 35 minutes, there's no room for mulling here.

Expectations were high given the heavy rotation of first single 'Bloody Ripper' on Triple J and community radio, and with the release of their second single "Elbow", it seems that the boys have delivered.

12 Bar Bruise; call it a psych-mutant, call it collective chaos, one thing is for sure; King Gizzard and The Wizard Lizard are back in fine form. And if you can count that as raining spit, then the forecast is good.
