After getting the Scientists back together at the New York All Tomorrows Parties festival where they were invited to perform alongside the reformed Iggy &The Stooges, Kim Salmon and Leanne Cowie decided to re-enter the studio to record a new album of primitive garage rock n roll entitled "True West" as a two-piece project under the classically simple moniker of 'Kim & Leanne'.

True West has been described as another Salmon/Cowie classic with their world famous primitive dark art-punk dragged out of the garage and covered in hooks. Special advance copies of the album will be available at The Retreat. In addition to the new album, Kim and Leanne have done a stupidly limited run of cassingles of their digital only release "The Science Test". This will only be available at the shows...then never again.

The album opener (and second single) "The Science Test" is a foreboding slab of industrial minimalism that take you from your comfort zone and after 2 and 3 4 minutes, leaves you stranded. "Carry On Baggage" is just like an undiscovered 60s Garage Pebble ala Sky Saxon or the 13th Floor Elevators. "Ow! Baby, Baby" is a Tyrannosaurus-Rex sized foot stompin', hand clappin' hunk of Glam Rock. "Dead Flowers" is Salmon and Cowie's slowed down, honey dipped feedback and reverb drenched take on the Rolling Stones' classic.

The debut single "Freudian Slippers" is a slice of garage soul about the joys of amateur psychology.
"Hard To Get" belies its title and is actually hard to get out of your head. The album closer, "Get A Hold Of Your World" remotely channels Television with its chugging riff, stream of consciousness lyrics and jagged guitar solos. 

TRUE WEST will be released on vinyl in North America on Chicago's Hozac Records and in Europe and Australia on Bang! Records in the northern autumn The CD and digital release will be under Kim & Leanne's Guilt Free Records imprint through Rocket Distribution in August.
