Event Details

Held on the second Wednesday of every month, In The Round atLeadbelly is inspired by the sessions at the BluebirdCafe in Nashville, among many others, where four singer/songwriters get together to play their own songs, each others, some covers - and tell a few stories along the way. Expect a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration and an incredible evening of music across two sets.

The event takes place with a unique set up; artists taking the stage on the floor of the venue, with guests invited to sit around the songwriters as they perform - just like they do at the Bluebird in Nashville!

The 8th installment of In The Round at Leadbelly stars the night's curator Taryn La Fauci with Lisa Caruso, Gentle Leader, and Eddie Boyd!

TARYN LA FAUCI

Taryn La Fauci is an emotive songwriter whose songs are crafted around the folk and singer-songwriter genres, drawing similarities to Nick Drake and Joan Shelley. The 28 year-old Sydney based artist independently released her 10 track Debut Album "Cycling" on June 30, 2017 which was crowd funded through Pozible and is produced by Ryan K. Brennan (Julia Jacklin, Elizabeth Hughes).

"As befits Taryn's now greater expressive expertise, Cycling's approach, its gentle layering of sound, is sensitive, intelligently managed and not over-zealous..." - DAVID KIDMAN, FATEA UK

"The music that accompanies Taryn's prose provides a fragile and bare backdrop that allows her messages and mantras to take centre stage. And her voice, equally as fragile, delivers her poetry in a manner that is nothing short of pure and simple vulnerability." - MUSIC LOVE

Taryn has performed around Sydney at The Seymour Centre, 505, Lazybones, Caf Lounge, Home Sweet Home and The Bunker, sharing the stage with Julia Jacklin, Gordi, Dominic Youdan, Caitlin Harnett, Katie Brianna and Andrew Phelan (The River and the Road).

Taryn also created the Podcast 'Top of the World' which can be found on the AU Podcast Network. This is Taryn's second curate for 'In the Round' at Leadbelly.

LISA CARUSO

Previously described by Double J as 'genuinely interesting pop music' after a stunning first release, Sydney Artist Lisa Caruso has since been writing a wealth of songs more raw and bold than before. With a personal desire to state blunt truths, there's a uniqueness to her songwriting and painfully heartbreaking vocal which has always captured an audience. After some time away, Lisa is now back in the studio, expecting that you'll enjoy the more reckless she, taking influence from 90's Indie Rock Queens and 60's folk pop outfits.

GENTLE LEADER

It was the battle to be brutally honest with himself, and transparent and raw with those around him, that saw lead singer Matthew Oastler create Gentle Leader. Interested in duality, context and meaning, the forthcoming record delves into both the ideas and ideals, as well as the realities of family and mental health. Refreshingly personal, yet relatable, the songs present a journey into the mind of an observer. Lyrically it's designed to confront, sonically to provide colour. The record is at times a beautiful chaos; played live it's a stripped back whisper, always aiming to find the balance between grit and hope.

EDDIE BOYD

Eddie Boyd writes wordy music for rock'n'rollers. Think Lou Reed and Kurt Vile with some added adrenaline.

He will sing songs about being young, having plans and the plans of his young friends. There'll be some brand newbies and some which are set for release real soon.
