Event Details

Held on the second Wednesday of every month, In The Round atLeadbelly is inspired by the sessions at the BluebirdCafe in Nashville, among many others, where four singer/songwriters get together to play their own songs, each others, some covers - and tell a few stories along the way. Expect a once-in-a-lifetime collaboration and an incredible evening of music across two sets.

The event takes place with a unique set up; artists taking the stage on the floor of the venue, with guests invited to sit around the songwriters as they perform - just like they do at the Bluebird in Nashville!

The 9th instalment of In The Round at Leadbelly stars the night's curator Timothy James Bowen with Kay Proudlove, Missy Lancasterv plus more to be announced!

ABOUT TIMOTHY JAMES BOWEN

The last 18 months have brought Bowen commissioned works with Virgin Mobile Australia, two brand new EP's, multiple national Australian tours with internationally renowned recording artists; The Milk Carton Kids & Clare Bowen, multiple cameo performances at the world renowned Grand Ole Opry stage in Nashville, TN. and a song he co-wrote, 'From Here On Out', being chosen for the U.S. TV show, 'Nashville' and their subsequent series 4 soundtrack. Just before Christmas of 2015, however, he was unexpectedly diagnosed with end stage Lymphoma and was given just two weeks to live. Having endured an intense chemotherapy regime, he returned triumphantly to the stage in May of 2016, while still completing his last round of treatment, to open for and play alongside his sister, Clare Bowen, of the hit U.S. TV series, 'Nashville', for her inaugural and sold out Australian tour. In May of this year, Bowen released his brand new EP, 'Bloom' and is currently touring the record with his sister, Clare, once again, along the east coast of Australia. Timothy will continue touring his new record after this run of shows with Clare, revisiting many of the cities they have both played over the last few weeks. With much more music planned for release in the coming months and a new lease on life, Timothy has proven himself as one to watch in 2017.

ABOUT MISSY LANCASTER

Music is at its most powerful when it hits a nerve, something singer-songwriter Missy Lancaster knows intimately. For in her twenty-three years, music has granted levity to moments of both pure joy and impossible darkness, guiding the girl from the country town of Picton, NSW, through life's highs and lows.

With a keen early interest in singing and songwriting together with an eclectic array of musical influences, Lancaster has grown into a dynamic musician capable of moving seamlessly through a diverse range of genres. Her recent efforts erase the line between various styles and forms shaping a singular sound that defies any easy categorization. It is a sound that has its roots in Nashville, Tennessee, Lancaster's home away from home and the backdrop to both her independent EP, Missy, which led to a record deal with Sony, Three County Music Channel Nominations, and her upcoming debut album, set for release in 2018.

ABOUT KAY PROUDLOVE

Engaging, emotional and witty, Kay is an indie-folk singer-songwriter with a remarkably agile, engaging, honest, soul-bearing voice and a wry, dry-ice sense of humour. With a live performance style that is much like being invited into her lounge room, her songs are truly stories set to melody, by turns relatable, humorous and heartbreaking.

After spending last year touring a hard-copy only release of a live album titled 'I Should Have Done This Ages Ago' and playing bucket list shows such as The Woodford Folk Festival, Kay has dedicated the first half 2018 to studio to create her newest release - a collection of songs that she says are a true reflection of her creative self, to be released this summer.
