The Lonely Cosmonauts:
THE HISTORY of THE LONELY COSMONAUTS
What seemed like a lifetime of dud gigs had finally taken its toll on Don Morrison. He slumped alone contemplating the shrivelled corpse of his legendary three piece band The Elmores and reflected on the comments of a booking agent who had said "No one can work an empty room like you, Don". In this darkest hour came inspiration. Suddenly the half empty glass became half full. (for a brief moment at least) The Lonely Cosmonauts was conceived at that moment - let the band fill the room even if the punters didn't!.
The result is hard to describe. We don't fit into any category and are not part of any movement. We play blues but it's not the "four on the floor" abomination that passes for blues so often now. It's deep blues, from voices and slide guitar. We play Gospel. Six male voices giving it their all. Call and answer vocals in the real tradition of the genre. We love to sing. We play country but find Lee Kernaghan and his ilk repulsive. We do covers but the bulk of our material is original. We have a sense of humour and fun but our music is soulful and heartfelt.
So, what do you make of that?
You have to be there. ..
Steve Brown Band:
"The Voice" and "The Band" - an unbeatable combination. Steve Brown has a voice that sounds like a pint of Guinness and the Steve Brown Band is stellar line-up of David Rocky Rhodes (guitars), Denis 'The Preacher' Surmon (bass), Jeff Algra -rhythms (drums) and Peter 'Ivories' Martin (keys and harmonica). You'll not hear better Blues and Roots music in the 'Deep South'.
