Armed with a passion for the arts, Ian Friday is on a creative mission to spread "Global Soul". The writer, producer and DJ coined the phrase and has spent the last few years doing just that; taking his brand of soulful music around the world.

This New Yorker has been making an impact within the arts since the early 1990's. It began with a non-profit organization called The Tea Party NYC Inc which provided a platform for emerging and established artists including Erykah Badhu, Talib Kweli and Mos Def. The evolution of this burgeoning brand led Friday from simply working with incredible artists to creating a music label to further support the man to delve deeper into his musical journey.

Ian Friday has been DJing since the college radio days and has continued to do so through present day with a very successful and widely recognized New York City residency, Libation. Now in its fifth year, Libation is an off spring of The Tea Party Inc and has become the home base for "Global Soul". Within the last year, Libation has seen attendance by the like of the Queen of Pop herself, Madonna and was recently featured in People Magazine. Both creating and playing the music has given Friday a 360 degree understanding of not only what moves a crowd from Paris to Johannesburg to Tokyo, but also what moves other DJs in what they'd like to play.

As a producer, Friday creates both remixes and original music and is best known for his breakout hits "Life Starts Today", "Theorama Del Faya" and "Found Myself" all on Tea Party Music as well as "Carib's Leap" on West End Records. His single "Kissing You" (Tea Party Music Inc) has already had major attraction including being regularly played on New York City main stream radio station WBLS.

Ian Friday is putting it all out there. As an ambassador of global soul, he has DJ'd all over the world, made major headways as a producer and the Libation Party has seen an ever growing number of loyalists. The future is full of possibilities and he is looking forward to another spectacular year.....and his first Australian tour!
