Hothouse Presents: a monthly Jazz series at The Basement Sydney with the latest and greatest in the scene! For the second instalment of Hothouse Presents, USA vintage vocal supergroup, The SongBirds will be returning to Sydney following their triumphant 2014 Australian tour and a star appearance at Barry Humphries' 2015 Adelaide Cabaret Festival.

These SongBirds are absolutely brilliant!'... Legendary UK engineer Geoff Emerick (Kate Bush, The Beatles)

The SongBirds are internationally acclaimed singers Dannielle DeAndrea, Gaby Moreno and Erica Canales. Their signature sound fuses modern instrumentation with the 3 part harmonies first brought to life in the 1920s by the Boswell Sisters.

The past few years have seen The SongBirds seduce young Hollywood and music industry legends alike with a star-studded record launch at the Sunset Marquis in Hollywood hosted by Sarah Hyland (Modern Family) and Elle Magazine USA. They have recently collaborated with Van Dyke Parks and Harry Shearer (Spinal Tap, The Simpsons) and sold out shows in San Francisco, Los Angeles, South America and Australia.

Their show at The Basement will feature a solo performance from each SongBird and will celebrate the release of their new EP Flying to the Faraway Trees, which puts The SongBirds' spin on classic Australian songs including the Cold Chisel favourite Forever Now.

Dannielle DeAndrea is an Australian jazz/soul diva whose resume includes live or recorded performances with John Farnham, James Brown, Jackson Browne, Joe Cocker and Ariana Grande...

Gaby Moreno is a Latin Grammy winner and Guatemalan superstar who has sung with Andrea Bocelli and recently visited Sydney as a member of Hugh Laurie's Copper Bottom Band...

Erica Canales is a Mexican-American operatically trained vocalist who has sung with Ben Harper, Brian Wilson and is currently touring with the lead singer of The Killers Brandon Flowers.

With skilful arrangements, humorous stories and exquisite vintage harmonies, The SongBirds flip, swing and soar through the songs of now and yesteryear.
