HOLY BALM It's You Album Launch; An All Nighter (SYDNEY)
9:00pm, Fri 31st August, 2012
Goodgod Small Club, NSW
This event has passed and sales are now closed
Dance outfit Holy Balm hail from Sydney. After years of performing on the outskirts of Sydney's underground music and art scenes, the band have moved through improvised, longer form beginnings to create their own idea of an endless dance floor.
Traipsing through hazy, sultry tropical flavours to brooding dark-wave tinged ballads, the band take a daring position within the realm of dance and synth based music. Live percussion punctuates house influenced beats in the vein of Arthur Russell (Go Bang!) and loose, wobbly synth lines reminisce on Larry Heard's brand of 80's Chicago house. Their live shows deliver big rhythms, rich textures and real party jams with artists Anna John, Emma Ramsay and Jonathan Hochman at the controls.
Holy Balm's debut album It's You is to be available come late July on RIP Society, nationally distributed by FUSE on CD and LP.
The hometown launch is an all nighter affair at Goodgod Smallclub in Chinatown in the Sydney CBD.
Guest sets from;
DCM; neo-future Minimal/Maximal Synthetic Duo of Daniel Stricker and Chris Ross)
MODEL CITIZEN; interesting/emotional new wave music trio of Nic (None Music, Whores, NOTV), Jon (Holy Soul, solo act) and Nic (Bed Wettin' Bad Boys)
And record spinning from the world of DJ ROBERT LAKE! (Original DCM DJ / sets from a scarily good music collection?!)
From 9pm till late.
