As opening night of HOBOFOPO Folk-Punk Festival, The Go Set (VIC) and Handsome Young Strangers (NSW) will strip back to provide intimate semi-acoustic performances, and then combine for a final set as supergroup: The Handsome Young Go Set, who are likely to pull out a few classic folk-rock classics.

THE GO SET   Since the bands formation in 2003, The Go Set has been a unique musical experience. Four studio albums, relentless tours, raw & chaotic live shows united with powerful songs and a strong social conscience...
The Go Set have created a sound of its own by combining traditional folk instruments with distorted punk guitars & timeless rock n roll energy. The band has performed at Australia's best venues & festivals such as the Forum Theatre, Falls Festival, Pyramid Rock, Queenscliff Music Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Apollo Bay & St. Kilda Festival. Aside from extensive touring schedules, stages have been shared with The Living End, The White Stripes, The Bouncing Souls, Flogging Molly, Wolfmother & Weddings Parties Anything.
The Go Set have recently returned from touring across the USA and UK in time to headline HOBOFOPO.   HANDSOME YOUNG STRANGERS   Handsome Young Strangers are stalwart Australiana bush-punk legends. Recently joining Folk Til Ya Punk Records (The Dead Maggies, The Button Collective, Fox 'N' Firkin) for the release of a forthcoming mini-album titled The Battle of Broken Hill. Their previous EP featured the song Thunderbolt which is nearing 2million views. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_msqUorlAzk   HYS perform a blazing blend of colonial, bush punk/rock that is uniquely Australian - tunes about bushrangers, shearing, droving, convict hardship, sports heroes, war veterans and other iconic Australians .... and all delivered with an arsenal of musical weaponry including banjos, mandolins, mandolas, dulcimers, lagerphones & fiddles to name a few.

Equally at home on a cramped stage on a punk rock bill or a major folk festival, HYS take their influences from such revered Australian acts as: The Bushwackers, Redgum, Roaring Jack and Weddings Parties Anything whilst displaying an originality that shines through in their own songs.
