GROOVES ON A GRASSY KNOLL 2017

Set against the backdrop of the historic sandstone of St. John's College - oh if those walls could talk - Grooves brings you an intoxicating night of revelry, beats and most importantly good times. Showcasing rising and risen stars in the Australian music scene, the night is set to be the biggest of the year kicking off the semester with performances that will leave your heart aching for another round.

LINEUP

CROOKED COLOURS

The rise of indie electronic band Crooked Colours, marked by the release of 'Flow' has been received with high praise from the likes of triple j, Radio 1, Majestic Casual, Complex UK and fans alike, packing out shows across their recent sold-out national 'FLOW' tour.

Phil Slabber, Leon De Baughn and Liam Merret-Park form the group that have returned to the forefront of Australian music, cementing their foothold by delivering a refreshing take on hits 'Capricious' & 'Come Down' whilst delighting audiences with a plethora of new material.

After taking an 18-month hiatus to develop their craft further, the trio have been creating more diverse and layered productions than ever before. Following on from the hit 'Flow', Crooked Colours have released their 10 track debut album 'Vera', dubbed a "breath of fresh air" in a saturated genre and making them one of the hottest electronic bands in Australia right now. The band will be touring their new record across Australia and the rest of the world this August with special guest Ivan Ooze, Visuals by EGO and supported by Muto, with many of their shows in Australia already sold out. The guys have also been announced in the stellar line-up of the sold-out Spilt Milk festival in November.

BENSON

Benson, aka Ben O'Connor, represents everything that your parents hate. He plays loud sub-bass-driven house music, drinks a dangerous amount of alcohol and stays out way past his bedtime. He resides in Melbourne these days but spends a lot of time blowing up expensive sound systems in clubs around Australia & abroad. His DJ sets are jam packed full of tasty treats and his productions are much the same. Benson has worked with major labels such as Sweat It Out, Ministry Of Sound & Sony BMG, while still finding time to manage his very own boutique label "Say Wat Records". Benson has also shredded stages at Splendour In The Grass, Parklife, Stereosonic and Summadayze. Off the back of an international tour of Japan, the USA and Canada and ahead of an Australia wide tour beginning in July, Benson is ready to take you on a journey through musical time and space that'll leave you begging for more good times for weeks to come.

WILLARIS. K

Like sands through the hourglass: let the textures and tempos of Willaris. K creep up on you.

Willaris. K is 23 year old Jack McAllister. Swapping tools by day for synthesizers by night, McAllister's contribution to the electronic music landscape stretches beyond the walls erected by his modern techno counterparts.

This Northern NSW Coast producer harnesses the intensity of Jon Hopkins or Flying Lotus, infused with the beauty and intimacy of Nils Frahm and Olafur Arnalds, measured by the restraint of Bonobo and Clark. It's a musical formula that is only achieved by an instinct for feel and texture and is evident in Willaris K's debut offering, the brooding track "Alchemy".

McAllister's live show plots a course through emotional peaks and troughs, and has the rare capacity to move people both above the shoulders and below the waist. He is truly one to watch after shredding the stage at Splendour In the Grass 2017 and being announced in the phenomenal lineup of Bay Dreams Festival in New Zealand next year.

"The future of Australian electronica"

"An absolute stunner"

"As subtle as it's packed, this is the first true club jam of 2017"
- I OH YOU
