Back by popular demand after last month's show, Greta Gertler Gold and her band The Universal Thump will play their FINAL SYDNEY SHOW at Blue Beat tonight, before heading back to their home in Brooklyn, NY. Again for this show, Greta Gertler Gold, her husband and partner in Thump, Adam D Gold (drums), Alex Hewetson (bass) and Matt McMahon (Rhodes) will be joined by special guests throughout the night. Tonight Greta's special guests will include Tania Bowra, Ben Fink, Elana Stone, Lily Dior, Steve Griffiths, David Gertler, Joy Howard and guitarist Kyle Sanna (from NYC).

This show will be a one-time-only 'retrospective' of Greta's gorgeously melodic pop songs - from brand new ones to The Universal Thump, to solo-era (The Baby That Brought Bad Weather, Edible Restaurant), all the way back to her mid-90s chamber-pop band Peccadillo days.

Greta Gertler is a Brooklyn-based pianist, singer & songwriter originally from Sydney, Australia. She and her band, The Universal Thump, have recently been featured on ABC Radio National, NPR 'Song of the Day', WNYC, WFMU and released an eponymous orchestral pop double-album in four 'Chapters' in Fall 2012 (Foghorn Records/MGM). They have recently been nominated for the Independent Music Awards in two categories: Best Music Producers and Best Concept Album.

In addition to releasing three albums as a solo artist, Greta has performed and recorded throughout the USA, Australia and Europe, with a diverse range of artists such as Sufjan Stevens, OK Go, Sarah Blasko, Clare & The Reasons, John Wesley Harding, Martha Wainwright, Glenn Tilbrook (Squeeze), and Joan As Policewoman, and was recently cited as one of NYC's Top 20 Orchestral Pop artists (Deli Magazine).

In 2013, Greta and fellow Aussie-in-Brooklyn playwright Alexandra Collier were awarded artist residencies to work on their first musical "Willow's One Night Stand" at Ucross (Wyoming), SPACE at Ryder Farm and the Rhinebeck Writers Retreat (in 2012). Greta was the recipient of an Australia Council for the Arts grant to tour in support of her most recent solo album, "Edible Restaurant" (2007). She is also a multi-platinum-selling hit songwriter, having co-penned the hit, "Blow Up the Pokies" (performed by The Whitlams).

Greta recently directed music videos for The Universal Thump's singles, "Flora", "Darkened Sky" and "Honey Beat". Greta & The Universal Thump also produced and performed as house band for a Benefit Concert performance of the George Harrison album, "All Things Must Pass" at The Bell House, Brooklyn in 2010. They were joined by special guests Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond), Missy Higgins, Rick Moody and many others, to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of its release.
