"…among the most appealing alto saxophonists in jazz, Osby has forged a distinctive musical language built on unusual chords, unorthodox turns of phrase and unconventional melodic ideas...Yet, at the same time, his work remains direct and accessible." - Jazz Standard

SIMA presents 'The International Winter Series: Greg Osby Quartet'

"Greg Osby is at the peak of his endeavours ... he must be followed by anyone interested in where jazz is going" - Penguin Guide to Jazz

US saxophonist Greg Osby is a true adventurer renowned for his exciting live performances and his relentless desire to propel the jazz tradition. Having recorded more than 15 albums on the iconic Blue Note label, he is known as an innovator in his brilliant search to break the mould and push the boundaries. Each of his recordings for Blue Note all explore markedly different territory with Osby's distinctly original voice as the common denominator. His credentials are exemplary: in New York he was involved in the M-Base movement of musicians including Steve Coleman and Cassandra Wilson, and he's recorded with great jazz artists such as Jim Hall, Herbie Hancock, Stefon Harris and Joe Lovano. Known for his individuality and daring, Greg Osby takes you with him to jazz's next horizon.
