The former Triple J Unearthed winners caught everyone by surprise when they dropped new single 'Poverty Line' only a few months after the release of their debut EP. The single, which was mixed and mastered by Mikey Young (Eddy Current Suppression Ring / Total Control) explores the struggles of being young and trying to make ends meet in a world where the cost of living is forever increasing, youth unemployment is on the rise, and where Gen Y may very well be the first generation in history not to be better off financially than their parents.

The reaction to the tracks was immediate, with Triple J premiering the song on Triple J Good Nights, and then going on to be added to full rotation. The track landed in the highly sought after 'Single Life' column on The Music with writer Ross Clelland explaining in his review "...a Member of Parliament's 'living away from home allowance' when they're 'working' in Canberra is $273 a day. Newstart allowance for a single adult is $263.80 a week. That's 'a week'. This has nothing - and yet everything - to do with what they're yelling about".

Good Boy are by no means a political band. They are simply 3 young friends, writing music about their lives in Brisbane. And as it turns out, this music is catching on! It seems like only just yesterday that Good Boy released their killer debut EP, with lead single Transparency that gained the attention of music industry tastemakers and fans alike. From there they landed a high rotation single on Triple J, scored a slot on Laneway Festival, sold out multiple hometown shows and played with the likes of Homeshake, Viet Cong, Jonathan Boulet, British India, Palms and The John Steel Singers.
