Emily Barker (AUS/UK) & El Pony Pisador (ESP)

FolkWorld Fairbridge Festival presents a spectacular concert of songwriting brilliance and global musical virtuosity featuring Emily Barker (AUS/UK) and El Pony Pisador (ESP).

Emily Barker is an award-winning singer-songwriter, best known as the writer and performer of the theme to the BBC’s hugely successful crime drama Wallander starring Kenneth Branagh. She’s just completed a US tour with Mary Chapin Carpenter promoting her latest album A Dark Murmuration of Words that reached Number 1 on the Americana charts in the UK and received high critical acclaim.

“One of the most literate and probing folk albums of the year.” Ann Powers, NPR Music

El Pony Pisador are a rousing five-piece Celtic-shanty group from Catalonia, Spain. The group’s highly entertaining performance style has made them popular festival favourites in Europe, Canada, the US, and now Australia. Their humour and musical virtuosity is contagious with a line-up featuring banjo, mandolin, guitar, fiddle, flutes, and vocals with Tuvan throat singing! Also, enjoy a post-concert ‘after-party’ shanty session with the El Pony Pisador lads and our favourite local shanty singers.

We honour and acknowledge the Whadjuk Nyoongar people as Traditional Owners of the land on which we work and live. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging and recognise that the land and sovereignty has never been ceded.
