The Emergenza Festival began in 1990 in Europe when a group of mates, all musicians, staged their own showdown, mostly for fun. After securing local sponsorships, the Emergenza team realized it had a chance not only to promote unsigned talent, but to provide a big stage for bands and give products as prizes to musicians participating in the event. Now some 4000 unsigned acts take part in this global event in over 30 countries.
Over the last 20 years, Emergenza has grown into the biggest event for unsigned groups in the world and it produces thousands of club dates across Europe, North America, Australia, Japan and Russia.
In live venues from Stockholm to Montreal, Berlin to Tokyo, bands play their original music in their city until the big one: The International final.
The winning band will then go to Germany to represent Australia.
24 bands from all over the world then compete at the international finals in August 2013 in Germany at the Taubertal festival where bands share the bill with huge headliners and play in an event that has an attendance of over 25,000 people.
