“If you took a 70s B-Grade muscle car slasher film and tore it into a bunch of bands…these would be the ones you couldn't look away from. We are all bastards of our parents’ music.”
Captivating, electrifying, "way too dirty for soap" and more than a little dangerous-Drunken Moon is a pure live spectacle.
The festival came about when James Grim, frontman for Melbourne sex-voodoo-Delta blues-a-billy band Brothers Grim & the Blue Murders', set out to, quite simply, carefully curate the finest collection of live bands he's seen in the past year into one massive east coast splurge of shows. Acts selected are ones that draw inspiration from varied ol' time musical roots, fused with a modern twist and representing the burgeoning hybridised Australian blues community to boot.
Pulling into Melbourne, Brisbane, Wollongong, Sydney and Woombye this Spring, the first annual national Drunken Moon Festival will pull out all the stops across each and every town they roll into. Each show will feature a slightly different line up (please find all line up and gig details below) in order to ensure that the best of both local and national talent are represented - "tight, loud and proud".
As Grim explained in a recent interview "If you took a 70s B-Grade muscle car slasher film and tore it into a bunch of bands...these would be the ones you couldn't look away from. We are all bastards of our parents' music."
Headliners Brothers Grim & the Blue Murders, along with Kira Puru & the Bruise, Mother and Son, Frank Sultana & the Sinister Kids, Papa Pilko & the Binrats and Howlin' Steam Train will soon be rollicking through a town near you. Don't miss the chance to be part of a very boisterous celebration.
