Discover the fundamentals of drawing in this 6-week Tuesday evening course for beginners.

Drawing: Exploring Line

6 x Tuesdays, 2nd May - 6 June 2017

6:30pm - 9pm

Tutor: Natalya Shinn

Intimate class size: maximum 10 students

Drawing slows you down. When you draw, you're taking the time to observe something truly and reproduce it. In the quiet space of drawing, you become very aware of form, proportion, and color. You come to understand light and shadow and how they reveal and define form.

Take a line for a walk in this course and explore all elements of the art of drawing. Learn the fundamentals of contour and structural drawing, record tone and texture, develop a range of mark making techniques and discover experimental drawing.

Throughout this 6-week course, artist Natalya Shinn will teach you how to develop your understanding of line, shape, and form and show you how to use a range of materials and techniques from pencils through to ink and wash. Whether creating simple line drawings or meticulously detailed renderings, you'll build your own observational and analytical skills and the confidence to tackle bigger drawing projects.

Full instruction is provided on materials, products, tools, equipment and studio procedures.

Non-toxic processes will be offered wherever possible.

Level: designed for complete beginners.

Wear: comfortable clothing (aprons provided)

Bring: yourself - all materials provided

Next level class: intermediate

Location: Darlington Studio

About our tutor:  Since 2003, Natalya's work has been shown in private and public galleries including the Hazelhurst Regional Gallery, Campbelltown Arts Centre, Broken Hill Regional Gallery and the Museum of Sydney. Natalya studied at West Wollongong TAFE, the National Art School, and Wollongong University. Natalya was a finalist in many prestigious art awards including the Broken Hill Outback Open Art Prize, Fishers Ghost Art Prize and the John Olsen Life Drawing Prize.
