Two of NZ's greatest rock bands, Dragon and Mi-Sex are set to co-headline in five massive shows, including 2 nights in Sydney, 2 nights in Melbourne and one huge festival in Christchurch on their Across the Tasman Tour 2017.

Dragon, founded in New Zealand in 1973 by Todd Hunter, toured all over the world in the 1970s and sold over a million records before disbanding in 1979. During that time, the band had hits with This Time, Still In Love, Sunshine, Get That Jive, April Sun in Cuba, and Are You Old Enough. Reforming in 1982, Rain became their next chart-topper in 1983, with the band releasing albums, Body & The Beat and Dreams of Ordinary Men, adding Speak No Evil, Celebrate, Dreams of Ordinary Men and Young Years to their hit list. With the passing of Marc Hunter in 1998, the band was defunct for 8 years, until 2006 when Todd reformed Dragon with singer Mark Williams on vocals, Pete Drummond on drums and Bruce Reid on guitar.

Inducted into the Australian Hall of Fame in 2008 and NZ Hall of Fame in 2010, the band has played over 700 shows over the past 8 years, with no plans of stopping any time soon.

New Zealand also gave birth to Mi-Sex. A name and a sound in 1977 that grew out of combining the collective creative energies of cabaret singer Steve Gilpin, an art-rock bass player Don Martin, a talented Southern drummer Richard Hodgkinson, a frustrated guitarist/songwriter Kevin Stanton, and a funk/dance keyboard player Murray Burns. 1979 saw them release their d but vinyl LP, Graffiti Crimes with singles But You Don't Care and the prophetic Computer Games going top ten on the New Zealand, Canadian, German & South African charts and number one in Australia. In the 80's they went on to release three more albums, before semi-retiring in 1984. Coming back together in the late 80s for two more Australian tours, the summer of 1990 saw the band begin writing fresh material and talking of recording again, but, sadly, that was just before Steve Gilpin's fatal car crash.

It was then 20 years before the band re-emerged from the music underground, after the acceptance of an invitation by Steve Balbi (Noiseworks/Electric Hippies) to front Mi-Sex at a private party and outdoor "Christchurch Quake Relief Concert". With Balbi upfront, the band's passion was reignited and they haven't looked back. They recently released their first album in over 30 years, Not From Here, in September 2016.

The Mi-Sex lineup is made up of the enigmatic Steve Balbi on lead vocals and Travis New on guitar; alongside original Mi-Sex members Don Martin, Murray Burns, Paul Dunningham and Colin Bayley.

With both bands known for their brilliant and energetic live performances, fans new and old alike will not be disappointed with this exciting double-header.
