DARKBEAT Presents:

MONIKA KRUSE [GER] [TERMINAL M]

RADIO SLAVE [UK] [REKIDS]

FRI 18TH NOV @ PLATFORM ONE

Darkbeat Monika Kruse Radio Slave

Talk about dance music icons.

Monika Kruse has been releasing music and at the forefront of dance music in Berlin for over 20 years. Radio Slave carved out his very own style

in an industry saturated with copy cats.  Darkbeat are proud to present them both to you on one night of amazing dance music.

MONIKA KRUSE (GER)

Monika Kruse's talent and dedication has made her one of the world's most highly-respected DJs and producers. In 2015 her Terminal M label celebrated its 15th anniversary with a string of sold-out parties including a massive show at the Amsterdam Dance Event.

Closest to Monika's heart were her No Historical Backspin benefits at Berghain in March and Watergate in October. Each saw a host of A-list DJs and dance music fans join the party to raise funds for No Historical Backspin, the charity Monika founded in 2000. Over the years it has raised more than 100,000 Euros to help people who suffer from racism, homophobia, anti-Semitism and anti-immigrant attacks.

Elsewhere, Monika ignited massive festivals with her crisp techno. Her Tomorrowland set in the Netherlands grabbed a huge audience, plus more than 1.5 million views on YouTube. In 2016 she plays a host of major events including Time Warp and Love Family Park in Germany, Ultra Miami and WMC USA. She grew up buying records, accumulating a music collection that grew to span funk, soul, hip hop, and house music. When the revolutionary rhythms coming out of Chicago and Detroit captured her imagination it led her to throw parties in illegal venues including World War II bunkers, trams and empty houses.

Electronic music culture has evolved rapidly since those early days but Monika's talent and passion is constant. "My ethos is 'sweat with a smile,'" she says. "I give love to my audience and they give it back. My aim is to help people forget what is going on in their life and get lost in my music."

RADIO SLAVE (UK)

Matt Edwards is Rekids co-founder. He produces quality music under a number of different guises (Quiet Village, Sea Devils, REKID, The Machine), but it is perhaps his "Radio Slave" moniker that most people will be familiar with. Over the last 5 years, as Radio Slave, Matt has released a string of underground club hits on Rekids such as "My Bleep", "Bell Clap Dance", The "No Sleep" series and the anthemic "Grindhouse". Aside from Rekids, Matt has released on a number of other esteemed labels such as R&S, Om, Running Back and Ostgut Ton.

Due to his unique production style, Matt has managed to carve out his own distinct Radio Slave sound which many often try to emulate, and which makes him a highly sought after remixer. DJ Mag listed him as one of the greatest remixers ever, and also awarded him 'Best British Producer' in the 'Best Of British' awards. To date, Radio Slave's remix credits include artists such as Armand Van Helden, Slam, UNKLE, DJ Hell, Josh Wink, DJ Sneak and many more.
