Communion, the U.K.’s hottest live music club night, is pleased to announce it's inaugural show in Melbourne. After the success of their recent expansion into the U.S with ongoing monthly residencies in Brooklyn and San Francisco and Nashville, the collective is proud to confirm a new instalment of its regular monthly event at The Toff In Town, beginning July 22. The event features a different lineup each month offering a creative platform for emerging, developing and established artists to perform in an environment that embraces collaboration and mutual support.
The Tiger and Me Currently in the studio recording their new album, the Tiger and Me venture out to join us for this special launch party. Architects of sing-along good times, dark-edged pop-leaning folk and side-leering swagger, their feverish live shows wring the full gamut of emotion from audiences. Watch their recently released video for The Smoke.
Liz Stringer Fresh from a national tour launching her new album 'Warm In The Darkness', acclaimed Melbourne songwriter Liz Stringer will be stopping in for a special solo performance at the inaugural Communion Melbourne. Stringer, renowned for her powerful and emotive live performances and rich, narrative songwriting, has earned her place among Australia's most respected songwriters and performers. She has toured nationally with the likes of Eric Bibb, Mia Dyson, Ember Swift and Ash Grunwald, and has delighted audiences and festival-goers all around the country.
Sam Lawrence Having recently released new album 'Casi', we were first introduced to Sam's haunting vocals through his accompaniment on Kimbra's video performance for the folks at Sideshow Alley. Following several recent supports with Kimbra around Australia, we're delighted to have Sam playing with his full band.
Al Parkinson Al Parkinson has been playing music for a while around the traps of Melbourne town, sharing stories and being, "a little too open" on stage... but that's exactly what you'll get from her; You ask, she'll tell you... Or she might just tell you anyway. Stripped back like old time blues, her music is what music should be; Honest and real.
Special Surprise Guest We'll also have the pleasure of a very good Communion friend joining us for the evening. Stay tuned.
