Learn the nuts-and-bolts of basic robotics as you build-your-own Beetle-Bot in this makerspace workshop for adults.

Build-your-own Beetle-Bot in this hands-on workshop. To find out what makes robots run - get tinkering with electronic and mechanical components. Make your own basic beetle look-alike and let it roam free.

Our creative digital making program at the library explores coding, robotics and electronics. As part of this, we've created the perfect project for the mechanically-minded.

Without human control, the Beetle-Bot can zoom around on flat, hard surfaces and avoid obstacles using just two motors and switches. One motor drives your bot forward until its feelers bump into an obstacle. The feeler triggers a switch which reverses the second motor to spin around and steer your bot clear of a collision.

This fun workshop will give you an introduction to new technologies, so take the time to dabble in DIY and learn how to solder.

When you're done, you can take your Beetle-Bot home and put it to the test by constructing a challenging obstacle course.

Suitable for adults 18+, the workshop costs $15 per person which includes all tools and materials. Places are limited to 10 people, so bookings are essential.

Haymarket Library is wheelchair friendly with a brand new lift and accessible ramp.
