Build your own biosynth experimental musical instrument in this workshop with electronic artist, Pia Van Gelder. You'll learn how to combine a basic synthesiser circuit with natural and found objects to create your own sounds and music.

Get hands-on to learn about the basic circuit and experiment with ways of modifying and personalising the circuit. You don't need any prior knowledge or experience in electronics to make the most of this creative workshop.

Push your musical boundaries and get innovative by adding different found-objects and plant-life as control inputs. Using your imagination, you can essentially learn how to play your environment. Then take home your musical masterpiece so you can keep experimenting and creating at home.

Pia Van Gelder

Electronic artist, curator and teacher, Pia, develops performances and installations by working with media machines like the audio-video modular synthesizer, and common electronic devices. Challenging assumed design, she's interested in presenting opportunities to experience audio visual mysticism.

Pia has curated various festivals, art events and exhibitions and is a lecturer at the University of New South Wales Art & Design. She's also the Overlord of Dorkbot Sydney, a regular meeting for people doing strange things with electricity.

This small group workshop is suitable for anyone 16+ and bookings are essential. Tickets are $35 each and include all materials and equipment.
