Featuring The Meltdown, Fulton Street, Horns of Leroy and Pugsley Buzzard

As part of Bar Open's 20th anniversary program and closely following Mardis Gras, we've devised Fitzroy's happeningest New Orleans carnival inspired indoor street party featuring The Meltdown, Fulton Street, Horns of Leroy and Pugsley Buzzard.

The Meltdown, Melbourne's purveyors of the finest country soul, have released their self-titled debut album on HopeStreet Recordings. The much acclaimed offering has secured their place as one of the most exciting new ensembles in Australian music. Blending country, gospel and 60s soul, the result is a unique take on Australian soul music and a record full of life, energy and deeply felt storytelling. With influences ranging from Father John Misty, Tedeschi Trucks Band and Alabama Shakes built above a steady foundation of southern soul music, this collection of stellar players have created a mesh of Stax and Motown with a healthy dose of the Nashville songwriting tradition. Making the song the focus, The Meltdown stay true to the common goal of the story and keep your attention on the honey soaked tones of Simon Burke's incredible voice.

Fulton Street are an exhilarating 7-piece band making waves in Melbourne's rich soul music scene. Led by commanding vocalist, Shannen Wick and featuring a rock solid rhythm section and dynamic horns, Fulton Street combines the classic elements of soul and R&B with magnetic energy to create an irresistible sound.

Cutting their teeth with a packed-out three year residency at Cherry Bar, Fulton Street's dynamic live performances have earned them the stage at some of Australia's most renowned venues and festivals. The group has received radio play on Triple J, ABC and PBS, cementing Fulton Street as one smoking hot band on the rise. Their debut single, 'Young People' was featured as part of The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Club, Vol. 4 via Freestyle Records in December, 2016. Now working on their debut album with Cookin' On 3 Burners' Ivan Khatchoyan, they are ready to introduce their powerful message and music to the world.

Horns Of Leroy
Inspired by the flavours of New Orleans to Fitzroy, this punked-out seven piece raucous street band take brass band music to a whole new level. From humble beginnings, the band has evolved from playing the streets of Melbourne to some of the biggest festivals and stages across the country.
Taking sounds from a number of musical influences, their debut record will be a fresh culmination that highlights all there is to dig about this band.
Whether you love them for their New Orleans inspired street parties or their raucous stage shows, Horns of Leroy always deliver and have earned themselves a reputation to match.

And downstairs in the front bar from 6:30pm, free to the public, it's Pugsley Buzzard:
Like a cantankerous mule towing a speakeasy full of drunken gorillas through a glass factory. Like a grizzly bear in a porkpie hat rummaging through a piano. Warm fuzzy and charming Dr Buzzard can cure all your ills with his genuine bonafide 100% pure elixar tonic and balm. His musical vibrations will warm your cold hearts and stir your dormant desires into a frenzy of excitement and good juju. The blind will see, the deaf will hear and the lame will dance. He brings the boogie and the woogie together to create a magical vibe that'll get ya jumpin' Guaranteed!!

This is an 18+ event.
