Recorded in a country hall through the winter months of 2014, Blend and Spill is the debut full-length album from acclaimed Melbourne singer-songwriter, Ayleen O'Hanlon. The result is a compelling work of deft folk-inspired songs, exploring themes from finding love to facing hard truths, backed up by intricate storytelling.

"I tipped over an inkwell of experiences and stories that had been hanging out in my head for a while, and let it spill," Ayleen says of the album.

The first single 'Loverless' was released in November 2014 to two sold-out shows at Melbourne recording studio, The Aviary. The second single, 'North of Nowhere' is out now, accompanied by a sweeping, cinematic video clip created by documentary film-maker James Arneman of Sunlander Films.

A rousing live performer with an ability to turn simple, poignant stories into song, Ayleen is a dynamic voice in the Melbourne alt-country scene. Named as one of the top songwriters in the 2014 Darebin Songwriting Award, she writes from an honest place, telling of small town histories, downtrodden hearts, and back-of-the-verandah observations. Carried by her distinctive voice and skilled picking on the guitar and banjo, Ayleen's sound is a blend of folk, alt-country and Americana traditions, inspired by classic and contemporary artists like Emmylou Harris, Karen Dalton, and Martha Wainwright.

Join Ayleen along with her full band, The Crooked Mansion, as she launches Blend and Spill, supported by Georgia Spain.

'Her vocals wrap their arms around you like the gentle caress of Mazzy Star's Hope Sandoval. You don't just sit there and listen, you feel it, and the sound holds on to you tight.' - Anthony Moore www.deserthighways.com

'It's a glimmering folk gem, with one of the most beautifully shot videos we've seen all year.' - Tone Deaf
