AMBER ISLES 'Habitat' EP Launch
Eighteen months since the release of their debut album Running, Amber Isles follow up with four-track EP Habitat. Written throughout 2017, the EP explores the spacesand environments we inhabit and the lives we lead and find ourselves in; physical surroundings, internal states of mind, and the passage of time as one habitat will eventually evolve into another as present becomes memory.
The songs deal with anxiety, euphoria, relationships and family. Assessing where we are and how we arrived. Evaluating the things that matter and the things that can be let go. Addressing habits and routines, deciding their worth and our resolve to shed them.
Habitat opens with urgency and tension, moving toward ambient release and reflection, with glossy vocals, soaring brass and lead guitar surfing on melody-driven bass lines and expressive drums.
The record was made at HQ studio in Brunswick, which was built specifically to record the band's previous album and has since evovled into a space where a number of other projects have got off the ground and records been made.
Amber Isles is an independent five-piece band forged from the fires within unique musicians and brought together by the working arteries of Melbourne. Effects-driven rock and folky ballads fuse with post-rock-esque instrumental sections and impressionistic songwriting. After three years gigging, writing and promoting shows independently, the band are set to release their sophomore record.
