Alárìíyá, fronted by trumpet player, Olugbade Okunade, aka GP Saxy, from Fela Kuti's, Egypt 80; captures the original party vibe of Nigerian afrobeat in their self-titled debut album.
Alárìíyá brings original compositions in Yoruba and English, from Nigeria's rich cultural heritage. This seven-piece line up includes, Olugbade Okunade - vocals & trumpet, Sayako Nakagawa - keys, Martin Zakharov - baritone sax & flute, Tony Priest - drums, Alastair Beattie - bass, Lachlan Stuckey - guitar and Oliver Hanane - percussion. Joined by special guests; rapper - Liam Monkhouse (BJX), guitarist - Simon Edwards (POAO) and trumpeter - Jim McGuffie.
Sharing the night is ten-piece funk collective, Headphones Jones, creating colourful grooves with big horns and driving rhythms influenced by afrobeat and afro-Latin styles; Headphones Jones generate infectious energy wherever they go.
Blazing horns, explosive percussion and punchy lyrics will keep you dancing all night long.
