Academy Presents Yahtzel & Amastro
Yahztel -
With his infectious tunes and knack for good humour, it's no wonder that 22
year-old Yahtzel - aka Max Armata - has amassed a pseudo-cult online
following as one of the hottest producers in Australia's indie-dance selection.
Yahtzel first rose to prominence with his debut single Girls in 2013. The track
gained major hype within the Australian indie-dance scene - so much that it
was featured in Flume's BBC6 Radio Mix as well as tight upload on Majestic Casual. Proving his success wasn't by chance, Yahtzel's follow-up single High With Me harvested over 13 million plays since
TheSoundYouNeed posted it in 2013 as well as being named as one of
InTheMix's top tracks of the year. This catapulted him on a 26-stop
Australasian tour that included sets at Australian boutique tastemaker
festivals including Listen Out, Falls Festival, Your Paradise (Fiji) as well as
jumping on the international stages of Holy Ship! and national touring
support for ODESZA.
Yahtzel has since received a lot of love on triple j radio, contributing a Mix-
Up Exclusive for Nina Las Vegas as well as a Friday Afternoon Mix for Lewi McKirdy.
Amastro -
The alias of electronic disc jockey and producer Angus Murphy, Amastro has a signature
smooth styling's that his production has been known for. Born in Canberra, Australia, the
22-year-old grew up in a musical family. Self taught with instruments such as the Piano,
