MENTAL AS ANYTHINGA popular urban myth concerns a group of art students who passed themselves off as a band in order to con the local publican into giving them a gig in exchange for free beer. The deception worked better than intended, and the group came to be known as Mental as Anything. Nearly two decades later, they are still irritating the public with their highly listenable, idiosyncratic brand of garage pop. |

URTHBOYUrthboy's first solo album Distant Sense of Random Menace was released in 2004 ("Aussie Hip Hop needs this album" The Brag) and featured singles No Rider and Come Around. But it was 2007's The Signal that kicked things up a notch. In addition to solo material, Urthboy is one of the main lyricists of The Herd, whose four albums The Herd (2001); An Elefant Never Forgets (2003); The Sun Never Sets (2005/06); and Summerland (2008) have seen them build a huge fanbase in Australia. |

BUTTErFINGERSIt’s official, Butterfingers give you more bang for your buck than a discount fireworks expo! These Brisbane misfits have been busy shocking and stadium rocking the Australian masses for 5 years - selling beats by the pound and blasting through the boundaries of rock n’ roll the only way they know how. These guys consistently mix up genres and styles in order to create a balanced chaos of hip hop, punk rock, electro and dub all packaged with fun and shameless appeal. Proudly led by singer/songwriter “Evil” Eddie Jacobson, Butterfingers were born from a brazen act of ridiculousness. An accident waiting to happen. From these humble beginnings in Brisbane it wasn’t long until the band got their shit together and started releasing music to the masses backed by constant touring and a media frenzy. |

HORRORSHOWHorrorshow bring the energetic optimism and anxiousness of post-school pre-mortgage times to life, with vividly true poetics. The coming to terms with what will ultimately be lifelong memories: from overseas travel and the perspective it provides; to self-realisation and adulthood. The lyrical and musical sophistication defy their youthfulness – but they play it humble - avoiding pretentiousness. Let’s not get too philosophical on it - Inside Story is hip hop to its bones: but Solo holds notes as comfortably as rhyme flows, and Adit’s production is deep, with lush strings and evocative samples painting the picture. |

One of his biggest highlights to date was opening for Bryan Adams at the outdoor concert series ‘A Day on the Green’ Following his set, the demand for his independently released album at the merchandising tent was overwhelming, with over 200 copies selling out. DAN ENGLANDDan England has travelled the highways with his band, meeting and playing to people in all walks of life. His Idol success was left behind for a road journey involving a genuine connection with people across the country, and a genuine willing to play great music night in and night out. Dan’s band – ‘The Thieves’ – is a powerful rock group playing tracks from his new EP “The Deconstruction of Dan England”. This Ep involved Dan collaborating alongside renown producers Jeff Lang and Michael Stangel to form a new sound and direction. This originally inspired Dan to put his own band together (‘the Thieves’) and hit the road to tour the new recording the old fashioned way. |
