Breakfest 2011

BREAKFEST '11

Breakfest 2011 (BF11) features a hand-picked selection of fresh and facourite artists across all forms of broken beat: breakbeat, drum 'n' bass, hip hop and all their children! Perth's Best Event has a prime place in people's hearts. No surprises really, given eleven years of amazing line-ups, like this.

Stanton Warriors feat. Hollywood Holt

You got it - the reigining premiers of broken beat, the Stanton Warriors, are returning to Breakfest. In 2011, the divide between DJ and producer has never been more apparent - skilled at one, not skilled at the other. Not so with our Stanton Warriors. Tunes from their latest offering, The Warriors, broke triple j's Super Request breakbeat records - the album is full of sexy, rocky, smooth raps and bottom-heavy dubstep breakdowns. Any Breakfester worth their salt will have golden Stanton memories; and in 2011 they are about to be the cheerry on your Breakfest pie.

A Skillz

A Skillz

It's a beautiful, party breakbeat thing. We could spend hours spouting the virtues of the skills of Adam Mills – his eclectic musical influences, funk-fused deck talents, cheeky remixes – but you know all that. Trick-tricka-trick-tricka-tech-technology – try getting that earworm outta your head (can you believe it's 8 years old?). Admit it; it still makes you want to wiggle your booty in that amphitheatre. We have no choice but to do this to you one more time: A Skillz is a party-rocker who has proven his worth amongst the Breakfest massive. The funk's about to hit the fan!

Illy

Illy

Melbourne MC Illy is to Aussie Hip Hop what Tupac was to West Coast rap. Think that's a big call? Check out his second album, The Chase, one of triple j's most bestest Feature Albums of 2010. It Can Wait featured darling Owl Eyes and was voted in at #29 in our national youth broadcasters most recent Hottest 100. And just like you're coming to Breakfest with your best mate, so is Illy. Joining the masterful MC is his good friend M-Phazes.

Netsky

Netsky

He's earned a green-light journey through the ranks of drum 'n' bass, letting his tunes do all the talking. Netsky's uplifting melodies and heavy dancefloor bass + beats deliver more aces than Kim Clijsters. His powerful forehand smashed Smile onto Hospitality's This is Drum + Bass and an equally whopping backhand in Memory Lane on to Logistics' Hospital Mix 8. Need more affirmation of Netsky's superstardom? No less than four awards at the Drum & Bass Awards 2011 for 'Best Breakthrough DJ', 'Best Breakthrough Producer', 'Best International Artist' and 'Best Liquid DJ'.

Scratch Perverts

Scratch Perverts

The Scratch Perverts are bad. Badmeaninggood, not bad meaning bad. While battles are a no-no in the crowds at Breakfest, they're a HELL YEAH on stage! There is no question of the Perverts ability to cut and scratch like masters. F*** Charlie Sheen, wanna talk about real 'winning'? Try the inaugural DMC championships, two consecutive World Scratching titles, Vestax battle in 2000. Oh, Scratch Perverts, you are our DJ Heros (you and your hardest ever 5-track setlist in the original game, and two in DJ Hero 2).

Napt

Napt

That NAPT system of high pressure is about to unleash a cyclone at Breakfest…the combination of opposing forces – breakbeat, house and electro – results in the formation of an N-Funk front. The bureau of breakbeateorology (aka Breakspoll) has acknowledged the power of the NAPT storm: Best Producer 2009 and 2010, Best Track 2009 and 2010 and Best Remix in 2009. NAPT first had us with a wink at Breakfest 2009. The wooing continued at Major Break 2010 with a smile and a (head)nod. NAPT return to the Breakfest bowl in 2011 to take us to third base.
