Sparkling, tender and precise, with each Clientele record the band – and core songwriter Alasdair MacLean – interrogate their influences that little bit more, stretching the 60s flavour to craft a sound that is both vintage and vital. Take their new record, God Save the Clientele, as an example. At first, it’s an understated celebration of melody. Given time to unfold in all its glory, the record becomes a thorough exploration of luscious sounds and carefully considered production, aided by MacLean’s intelligent lyricism. It manages to admire its predecessors without aping them, creating a world so intoxicating that the UK four piece ensnare you as a necessary passenger on their dreamlike musical journey.

They’ve most definitely ensnared Popfrenzy. Having released each of The Clientele’s full length releases, it is with great pleasure that Popfrenzy announces The Clientele’s very first Australian tour. While 2004 saw a brief solo tour for MacLean, this July all four of The Clientele will be gracing stages along Australia’s East Coast. It’s an experience not to be missed, as these songs unfold in their blissful entirety and you get the rare chance to witness indie pop royalty.

Special guest for all the shows will be Robert Scott from legendary outfits The Bats and The Clean.
