Ether, Morph, Howl At The Moon, DJ Mollusk
Ether began as a bunch of demo\'s made between Melbourne musician Matt Kelly and producer Thomas Campbell (aka SOUP) in 2009; a handful of songs merging elements of rock with textures of electronica. These raw songs began a genesis into a live act when Matt teamed up with Clint Sigmund on the drums, who also went on to record and produce all of this new material in his home studio over the next 12 months. With a rhythm section that weaves around Soups sci-fi soundscapes, otherworldly guitar textures, heavenly arpeggiators and a stark, haunting vocal, Ether put on a live show unlike any you have heard. Friday September 10th at the Evelyn sees Ether officially unleashing itself upon the masses, with support on the night from Morph, Howl At The Moon and The Mollusk. Doors open 9pm.

Zeitgeist Awareness Festival: Xenograft, Husk, White Cell, Geamala
Aldous Huxley once wrote that music is the complicated rhythms that tell us something about the equally complicated rhythms in the inner life of man; adding, these are probably quite inexpressible in words. Taking a tab from Huxleys perspective, six-piece instrumental act, Xenograft, embraces the inexpressible (who needs a singer anyway?) and reflects the complicated rhythms in the inner life of man through their ah well complicated rhythms I guess. Xenograft will headline the intriguing and informative Zeitgeist Awareness Festival on September 11th at the Evelyn. What better date for some questions to be raised! Support comes from Husk, White Cell and Geamala.

The Vagrants, Cloudmouth, Maurice Rodriguez, The Routines
The Vagrants bring their insanely high energy show to the Evelyn Hotel on Sept. 12th. Normally a 5 piece, The Vagrants will be using their augmented line up with horns, percussionist, and backing vocalists, up to 14 piece sometimes, which have caused some audience members to spontaneously combust in the past, so, make sure your life insurance is paid up. The Vagrants will be playing loads of new material written this year in the European ski resort St. Anton, and after a recent show, record company insiders described the new Vagrants material as "Epic". Snowboard videos of adrenaline big air, triumph, glory, and the inevitability of crashing immediately comes to mind.

JUNK!, Keith Party, Feedback Dancer
JUNK! is a merging of sequins, keytars, beat box solos and electro-rock. The universe of JUNK! is turned firmly towards the 1980s, where women, chicken soup, household budgeting and mushroom trips are all explored using MIDI controlled drum pads, foot pedals and a humble tambourine to create an hour of glitches, pops, sonic assaults and looming percussion. JUNK! is powerful, funny and slightly psychotic. Seeing JUNK! is not like seeing any other band - it is a piece of performance art.Support comes from crazy party kids, Keith Party and Feedback Dancer.

The Holy Sea & The Broadside Push (Double Album Launch), The Maladies (Syd), The Orphanage
Late last year The Holy Sea returned to the spotlight with the release of the double-A side singles Bad Luck King of Palm Island and national tour. They received unanimously high praise for both the songs and their live shows right across the country. The Broadside Push start out sounding almost straight country, no alt or death to speak of, just songs sung in a broad and unapologetic Aussie accent and foot-stomping, yea-ha inducing melody. By the middle of the set its obvious these guys have so much more going on. Theres Triffids level writing frenetic guitar abuse and an engaging, all encompassing madness that sets them well apart from the plethora of bands in the genre."
